  • " alt="Jane Fradgley ‘Held’ Exhibition 20th April 2013 to 16th June 2013 Part 1 “Jane Fradgley presents selected images from the series held, a photographic document of Strong Clothing, a euphemistic term used to describe certain forms of restraint used in late 19th and early 20thcentury asylums.”   It was a surreal experience especially as the photographs showed various detailed and close-up images which shows the clothing’s detail of construction and texture. It shows how the clothing restricts one person’s movements and also shows various ways on how to restrict a person per different garment shown in the exhibition. It was surreal experience as it shows the garments as one floating entity in the photographs. One comment said in the exhibition space said that the use of the black silk fabric to wrap around  the mannequins are quite successful as it didn’t take out any attention out of the main subject and still is effective as the garments are well laid out in the photographs. ">
